Why is it so bad? What I think about High-Fructose Corn Syrup

There is always so much information out there, I don't know about you but sometimes I need to know "Why is this so bad for me?" It's easy to want to tune out or pretend that many things we buy in the store are fine.
But let's face it, most are not! There is so many added processed ingredients in them that we need to try to get away from! But Why!?
I have to add Don't think you can just pick just anything up from your Whole Foods or health food store and think it's safe. There are plenty of hidden things in those as well.
We all need to be diligent, read labels and know what it is we are putting in our bodies. We need to stop buying things based on their cool ad! I am going to start breaking down a few of the top things I wonder about when I think "What is all the hype about!?"

This week's item is...

High-Fructose Corn Syrup: There is so much out there on this, from publicity by the people who want to promote Corn Syrup to the people who want to make it the evil son of the devil.
In the big picture: It's a sweetener.
In essence it will break down in your body like any other sugar. There are people looking into if our bodies truly break it down in the same manner as sugar, as it is a processed sugar.
There is more though to why HFCS is so bad. To start with it's one thing we consume waaaaay too much of , truly that goes for pretty much ALL sweeteners.
Sugars are bad on so many levels and trust me it pains me to say that. I am a big time lover of sweets, but there are findings that cancer cells love to feed off of sugar. So that right there is one reason to try to cut sugar and High-Fructose out of my life. The list of things sugar's mess with is a long one and we can see the evidence if we look at increases in obesity, heart disease, and many other things.

The second thing that is horrid about HFCS is I see it's an easy ways to hide how many kinds of sugar ARE in an item. Trust me here, go look in your pantry and you might find something with Sugar, High-Fructose Corn Syrup, Dextrose, Brown Rice Syrup all in the same item. Guess what folks, you have 4 forms of sugar in your item! AND it's in EVERYTHING!!! Hot dogs, bread, BBQ sauce, yogurt, the list can go on and on. So if you are not watching you could easily be consuming sugar in everything you eat, think of how much sugar or HFCS is adds up to in a day!
Why is it in everything, well for one it's cheap! We are a corn producing country, and it makes money.

Another point of note, though I can not find concrete data on it, there are a lot of experts that say HFCS is another blocker food that blocks the data to our body that it is full. So of course you want to eat more, something that is good for the food industry.
One more important question to you dear reader, do you know on average sugar your body can handle in a day?? The USDA does not have much of a stance, BUT the American Heart Association does! It ranges (depending on calorie intake) from 4-5 Teaspoons. Just to put that into prospective, a can of soda (12oz) has 9 tsps on average. Almost double your needed sugar in one day in just one can of soda. On the better side 1 cup of red grapes has 3 tsps. Not hard to think where you should be putting that sugar (for lack of a better word) quota into?
So in the end sugar is sugar and all, but when something is in everything there is too much of a good thing. If you can avoid foods with added sugar you will be doing a huge service to your body! Keep your sugars natural!! Fruits may have sugars but they also have a ton of other benefits that will help your body instead of harm it while making your sweet tooth happy!
